| Uterine
prolapse is a health condition that occurs when the muscular support for the
woman's uterus is lost. The uterus is normally supported by the pelvic muscles
and supporting ligaments. When these muscles become weakened or injured, uterine
prolapse can occur. In mild cases, a portion of the uterus descends into the top
of the vagina. In more serious cases, the uterus may even protrude through the
vaginal opening, and can be accompanied by a cystocele (a bladder that bulges
into the front wall of the vagina) or a urethrocele (a urethra that does the
same). In some instances, the rectum may bulge into the back wall of the vagina,
a condition known as rectocele. |
 |
Symptoms
of prolapse of the uterus can include backache,
abdominal discomfort, a feeling of heaviness, and urinary incontinence,
especially stress incontinence (the involuntary passage of urine when straining,
sneezing, or otherwise putting pressure on the abdomen). Other symptoms can
include excessive menstrual bleeding, abnormal vaginal discharge or bleeding,
painful intercourse, and constipation. However, a
woman with a prolapsed uterus may not exhibit any symptoms at all. Women who
have had several children and/or who have gone through difficult and prolonged
labor are more prone to prolapse. Other factors that can increase the chances of
uterine prolapse include obesity, uterine cancer,
diabetes, chronic bronchitis,
asthma, heavy lifting or straining especially if
the pelvic muscles are already weakened, and a retro-verted uterus which is a
uterus that is tilted toward the back of the body. Over 65% of all women who
prolapse their uterus will do it before they reach 55 years of age.

| Uterine prolapse is a form of female genital prolapse that is
also called pelvic organ prolapse or prolapse of the uterus or womb. Normal
medical treatment is surgical, and the woman's choices include hysterectomy or
alternatively the uterus-sparing techniques known as hysteropexy or the
Manchester procedure.
The uterus / womb is normally held in place by a web of muscles and
ligaments. When prolapse happens the ligaments supporting the uterus become very
weak so that the uterus cannot stay in place and then slides down lower from its
normal position. The ligaments involved are the round ligament of the uterus,
uterosacral ligaments, broad ligament, and the suspensitory ovarian ligament.
With the utereosacral ligaments being by far the most important ligaments in the
prevention of uterine prolapse.
Note that the most common cause of uterine prolapse is some form of
trauma during a childbirth particularly multiple and/or difficult births by the
woman. Over 50% of women who have had children can develop some type of pelvic
organ prolapse in their life. And it is more common as women get older,
especially in those women who have gone through their menopause. |

You would not think of exposing yourself to an Atomic Bomb fallout or
excessive X-rays. But not getting enough vitamins and minerals is just as
dangerous. Cells in your body not getting their vitamins and minerals suffer
both DNA and mitochondrial damage. These cells under a microscope look like they
have been hit with radiation. This type of damage may cause you to age faster
and can lead to Cancer
and other degenerative diseases like Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and others.
