Chronic
fatigue syndrome (CFS) is a condition that has become widespread in the United
States. Symptoms associated with CFS include aching muscles and
joints, anxiety, depression,
difficulty concentrating, fever, headaches,
intestinal problems, irritability, jaun dice, loss of
appetite, mood swings, muscle spasms, recurrent upper respiratory
tract infections, sensitivity to light and heat, sleeping problems, sore
throat, swollen glands (lymph nodes), temporary memory loss and most of all,
extreme and often disabling fatigue.
The symptoms of this syndrome resemble those of flu and
other viral infections, so it is often mistaken for other disorders. Often CFS
is misdiagnosed as hypochondria, psychosomatic illness, or depression,
because routine medical tests do not detect any problems. The syndrome is three
times more prevalent in women than in men, and primarily affects young adults
between the ages of 20 and 40 years old.
A good
indicator of chronic fatigue syndrome is
persistent fatigue that is not helped by sleep and that is severe enough to
lower your average daily activity by at least 50%.

| Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) is the most common name used to
designate a significantly debilitating medical disorder or group of disorders
generally defined by persistent fatigue accompanied by other specific symptoms
for a minimum of six months, not due to ongoing exertion, not substantially
relieved by rest, nor caused by other medical conditions. The disorder may also
be referred to as myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME), post-viral fatigue syndrome (PVFS),
chronic fatigue immune dysfunction syndrome (CFIDS), or several other terms.
Biological, genetic, infectious and psychological mechanisms have been proposed
for the development and persistence of symptoms but the etiology of CFS is not
understood and may have multiple causes. There is no diagnostic laboratory test
or biomarker for chronic fatigue syndrome. |
|
Symptoms of CFS include: poor sleep, muscle and joint pain, sore throat;
headaches, cognitive and memory difficulties; chronic often severe both
mental and physical exhaustion, and other characteristic symptoms in a
previously healthy and active person. People with chronic fatigue syndrome may
report additional symptoms including muscle weakness, increased sensitivity to
light, sounds and smells, orthostatic intolerance, digestive disturbances,
depression, and cardiac and respiratory problems. It is not clear if these
symptoms indicate co-morbid conditions or are produced by an underlying etiology
of CFS.
Even thought some people with CFS are told "it is all in their
head" there is agreement on the real threat to health, happiness and
productivity posed by chronic fatigue syndrome, but various physicians' groups,
researchers and patient advocates promote different nomenclature, diagnostic
criteria, etiologic hypotheses and treatments, resulting in controversy about
many aspects of the disease. The name "chronic fatigue syndrome"
itself is controversial and many patients and advocacy groups, as well as some
medical experts, feel the name trivializes the health problems of CFS..

"The necessity of teaching mankind not to take drugs and

You would not think of exposing yourself to an Atomic Bomb fallout or
excessive X-rays. But not getting enough vitamins and minerals is just as
dangerous. Cells in your body not getting their vitamins and minerals suffer
both DNA and mitochondrial damage. These cells under a microscope look like they
have been hit with radiation. This type of damage may cause you to age faster
and can lead to Cancer
and other degenerative diseases like Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and others.
